Site Content & Story Ratings
We are well aware that both Sailor Moon and Star Wars are family-friendly entertainment that appeal to children and pre-teens. In an effort to inform our readers as to the content of our stories, we have recently implemented a rating system based off of the movie certifications used by the Motion Picture Association of America. Each story has a rating, ranging from G (General Audiences) to R (Restricted), in the upper lefthand corner of the page. You can read more about the ratings at the MPAA website here. We follow the guidelines outlined on that page fairly closely, but above all use our own discretion. If our mods don't think that children under 13 should be reading a story, we will label it as PG-13. If we think that a story should be restricted to those 18 and above, we will label it as such. For stories rated PG-13 and above, labels describing the reasoning behind the rating are provided. The labels read as follows:
- violence and gore
- profanity and harsh language
- adult themes
- dialogue concerning or scenes of sexuality/sensuality
- drug usage
Although most of the content on this site is at or under a rating of US PG-13 and is suitable for most children and teens to read, you will run across the occassional R-rated story in StarMoon-AU. All such Restricted rated stories are labeled as such.
That said, StarMoon-AU is a lot darker than the original StarMoon, and even our stories that are rated G or PG, while not intense enough to warrant higher ratings, are often dark, disturbing, or depressing. Again, we tried to use our discretion here in rating stories. But if you are uncomfortable reading - or are uncomfortable with your children reading - stories dealing with issues like war, death, slavery, genocide, abuse, sexuality, addiction, mental illness, and other such generally mature themes, we suggest that you perhaps find somewhere else to read fanfiction.
