Stroiketcy
System: Yavin
People
The Stroiket are descended from followers of a Yavinian cult, who colonized the asteroid-planet with hopes of founding a community free from the 'taint' of non-believers. The population consists entirely of Cùmhnant Ainalainn ('Sacred Covenant of the Divine Virgin') followers, who firmly believe that a life of pure celibacy, broken only for reproductive purposes, is the best way to honor and worship their goddess.
The Stroiket keep their reproduction to the carefully monitored Geamnaidh ('childbirth') Houses where every fertile girl is sent to live at the age of fifteen. There she will live until she gives birth to a child, at which point the child is sent to the nurses and the mother is sent to Caves of Threistinia until she is fit to join a productive society. Every five years the women are sent back to the Reproduction Houses.
Major Cities
Threistinia ('Holy City') and Shutamuer ('Land of the Sweet Virgin') are the Bubble Colonies, located on the north and south poles of the planet. They are both located under massive domes, to keep the breathable atmosphere in and whatever else might be on the planet out. Exactly half-way in between there is a single spaceport, which bears no name and is not spoken of by the Stroiket.
Shutamuer is essentially the colony for those who are unable to help in Threistinia. The Hospital is located here, as well as the Burying Fields and the Youth Houses - where all the Followers are raised by nurses, in groups divided by age. This is also the home of the Geamnaidh Houses.
Threistinia is the primary colony, where all productive members of Shutaron society reside. The main temples are located there, along with the Caves, where all who have 'sinned' remain until their souls are purged of taint. What happens in these caves is known only to those who have experienced it. They do not speak of it once they have left. Threistinia also houses the farming facilities.
The Spaceport is rumored to be a den of sin and horror, all of which is fostered in the solitary pub/hotel, and runs rampant through the trading post and landing platform. There are really only three buildings in the port, and no traders stay longer than they need. Generally they unload their shipment and leave as soon as possible - which sometimes takes several days, as only the Liehalainn is 'pure' enough to deal with the traders without taint.
Environment
Cold and inhospitable, all life is kept under the protection of the City Domes, except the spaceport, which exists under a far smaller and more accessible version.
Political Situation
The leader of the Covenant is usually a priest of high order, who likely claims descent from Yavinian royalty. This leader, properly titled the Liehalainn - Semi-Divine Brother - will rule for exactly nineteen years, before sacrificing himself before the Goddess, at which point a younger brother will take his place. However, the title of brother has no reference to blood-family as the Stroiket keep no records of parentage; all children are raised as one family. One's 'brothers' and 'sisters' are the others raised in his or her Youth House. Males are slightly superior to the 'impure' women, though no one is above a virgin female who has not yet entered the Geamnaidh House.
Culture
The Covenant is the only acceptable culture on Stroiketcy. Though there is a single small Spaceport, the Stroiket pretend that it does not exist, as it a 'mark on the face of Stroiketcy'.
The Covenant does not forgive those who disrespect the Goddess - and to attempt to leave the Covenant is a most grievous sign of disrespect. Those who are caught expressing such a desire are sent out into the Wasteland - the space between the Bubble Cities. Anyone who is lucky enough to reach the Spaceport despite the low atmosphere and whatever creatures roam the barrens will likely as not be killed by one of the devotees who guard the entrance to the port.
Major Religion[s]
The Covenant is a devout worship of the Divine Virgin, a higher being that they believe is reborn every five hundred years in the body of a virgin girl. During the reign of the Divine Virgin it is said that all sinners will be burned to their pure state - though whether or not it is the Virgin who does this has been lost in records. They believe that the Virgin is the ultimate Goddess and that to worship at her alter is the natural goal of every pure sentient.
